Testimonials
I first bought Focus on Sound 4-5 years ago. The online dictionary is priceless – it’s so much better than Google as I know I can trust Focus on Sound and that it’s a good resource written by a music educator. You can dip in and use it in variety of ways, for example to quickly find relevant resources and examples in a lesson. Students can go in independently and revise any area they are less secure on to have concepts explained in a different way to help reinforce and develop their understanding. I love that I can tell the students to complete any of the lessons and be confident that what they are doing is valid and useful.
I like that you can add and create your own lessons and tests, but the published ones are brilliant. For Key Stage 3 there are solid lessons on musical concepts and terminology. I work at an international school, and it’s been hugely valuable to have a resource that is web-based and tailored to the IGCSE music programme.

"I can wholeheartedly recommend the MusicFirst program. I’ve seen the change that it’s brought in our students. I’ve seen so much greater motivation as a result of being able to engage in music outside the classroom, at home, as independent students, as musicians. The fact that we’re giving students now the tools to be musicians is such a powerful message that we can send them.”
